What Aphrodisiacs are In These Aphrodisiac Recipes?

There is a lot of debate about what makes an ingredient an aphrodisiac (see the earlier link to learn more).  Some of theme are from sight and some are taste, while others are determined by how your body reacts to them (I always sing “feeling hot, hot, hot…” in my head when I think of that…).  Each of these recipes will feature at least two of the following aphrodisiacs:

  • Oysters
  • Chili peppers
  • Avocado
  • Chocolate
  • Honey
  • Vanilla Bean
  • Cinnamon
  • Nutmeg
  • Asparagus
  • Arugula
  • Figs
  • Strawberries
  • Pomegranate
  • Basil
  • Pine nuts
  • Ginger
  • Cardamom
  • Almonds

Wonderful post! My husband (of 37 years) and I always stay in for Valentine’s Day. A special meal cooked together beats crowded, noisy restaurants hands down. I love all of these #sexyeats ideas! Thanks for including a couple of mine… Happy Valentine’s Day!

I had no idea that basil was considered an aphrodisiac. The more you know! 🙂

I know, right? Women used to dust their bosoms with it as a perfume in hopes of catching a man.
